The Swan Boats are located in the Boston Public Garden - 24 acres bound by Arlington, Boylston, Charles and Beacon Streets.
The MBTA Green Line Arlington Station is the closest "T" stop. From this stop, it is approximately a four minute walk through the Public Garden.
Boston Common Underground Parking Garage on Charles Street is the closest parking garage. Parking meters are available on the surrounding streets. Hotel and other parking garages are also in the area.
Group rates are available Monday through Friday for groups of 20 or more who arrive together and make a single payment (cash or check). We do not accept reservations, as it is impossible for us to guarantee a specific time for a Swan Boat ride. All groups must wait in the line (if one exists).
We ask that groups of 20+ enter a request one week in advance to be added to our Groups List. We do not send group confirmations. We begin taking information for groups after April 1st.
Weekdays from mid-May until the end of June we are very busy with school field trips between the hours of 10 am and 1:30 pm. Groups must be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes for a ride during this time.
We do make exceptions for certain small groups, such as those with severe handicap, the elderly, and others who are unable to stand in a line.
Rates (for groups of 20 or more): Adults $2.50, Children (2-15) $1.00
The Friends of the Public Garden provides a program to explore and learn about many of the Public Garden's natural features. Available at the Swan Boat dock are three fun hands-on natural science activities that you can do with your class, family, or friends. These activities are accessible to all ages, and encourage exploration of aspects both unique to the Public Garden and universal to natural settings.
Choose from three activities including:
- How Tall Is the Giant Sequoia?
- Birds In the Public Garden
- A Scavenger Hunt Discovery of the Public Garden
Each activity is specifically designed to explore the unique natural features of the Public Garden, and each takes about one hour to complete.
The Young Naturalist Guide to the Boston Public Garden is available in its entirety here. Boston Young Naturalists Exploration teachers are available to lead groups for $60 per hour.
Swan Boats passes are included for your group as incentives if groups opt for the BYNE activity. When you pre-register for the swan boats, you will have the opportunity to request adult passes to take advantage of these activities with your class.
